Sal Olivo is a life-long resident of Nutley and is well aware of its strengths and the areas that need improvement. As President of Bule Ribbon Fuel Corporation, he knows the problems facing small businessman. Blue Ribbon is a family owned business that was begun by Sal's Great Grandfather and expanded by his father, Salvatore Olivo. He has also served for the past 6 years as a Board of Education trustee and has been president for the past two.
Sal is a graduate of Nutley High School and received a degree in education from Arizona State University. Since college he has worked as a Nutley buisnessman for 35 years. As President of Blue Ribbon Fuel, he has managed a large business and has developed the executive skills needed in town government. His hands on experience at Blue Ribbon has also given him insight on issues concerning Nutley homeowners.
During his tenure on the Board of Education, Sal has worked to accomplish many initiatives including the much needed rebuilding of our school facilities. The schools have seen vast improvements in the quality of education, safety, security and infrastructure during his time of service.
Sal is also a proud family man. His wife Becky has been a teacher in Nutley for over two decades. His three children went through Nutley public schools. His first grandson was born last year and is a member of the fifth generation of Sal's family to live in Nutley.
